The Pearl in All Things.
Someone told this story at YC and I really liked it. So I want to share it with everyone.
The parable: A merchant man seeking precious jewels found at last the perfect pearl. He had the finest craftsman carve a superb jewel box and line it with blue velvet. He put his pearl of great price on display so others could share his treasure. He watched as people came to see it. Soon he turned away in sorrow. It was the box they admired, not the pearl.
I'm trying to see the pearl in all things.

" ye shall go to the Ohio...."

Youth Conference was pretty much the best ever. Srsly the best church activity I've been to, better than Girls Camp. We went to Kirtland, Ohio and toured the church sites. It was a huge testimony builder of Joseph Smith and the many many MANY sacrifices he and the early saints gave so we could have the church on the earth right now.
When we were going to see the Kirtland Temple, we had to wait at the Community of Christ's historical building and watch a video before we could see it. I know that we are friends with them and everything but when I walked into that building, I felt nothing. It was kinda depressing. We watched the video that they had and I still couldn't feel anything. It was finally time to go see the temple and I was really happy. I've always had my seminary teacher talk about the Kirtland temple and show us pictures, but I couldn't wait to see it for myself. I'm so grateful we studied the Doctrine and Covenants this year. If we didn't I would be totally lost during this whole trip. Anyways, So we walked into the temple and it felt really good to know I'm walking were the Prophet did. It really touched me the most. When we where in the downstairs part of the temple we sang the spirit of god. I'm listening to it now and like crying my eyes out. It just meant a lot to me to sing it in the temple. Even though we don't own that temple, I could still feel the spirit there. I know its the Lord's House.
We went to the N.K.Whitney Store. It felt really good just walking where the prophet stood and saw god. It felt really awesome. While we were there at the main building of the historical sites, we saw this movie that was really really good. It showed what happened in Kirtland through the eyes of Elizabeth Ann. Whitney. ( wife of N.K. Whitney) During that movie everything totally clicked. So many early saints gave up EVERYTHING they had for the prophet and the rise of the church. They gave the prophet a place to stay. Not just a place to stay but a place to make plans, study, translate, and receive revelation.
I bore my testimony in testimony meeting but I feel like I didn't say enough. So I'm doing it again now. I don't know whose out there reading this, but I want YOU to know that Christ lives. I can feel his love for me through the scriptures. I am SO grateful for EVERYTHING that Joesph Smith did for this church. He went through so much for us. For OUR day. I know that without the gospel in my life, I wouldn't be the person I am now. The thought of not having the gospel scares me. I KNOW this church is true. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet. Christ lives. I wish everyone could come and partake of his words, because I know that it gives me great joy and comfort. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Get Back

Glee. I dont like it. I would rather watch High School Musical 20 times than listen to Glee sing. I thought at first the story was cute and funny. But no. Its bad. REAL bad. And dont even get me started on the music. They have RUINED SO MANY SONGS. Its AWFUL. Naming a few: Dont Stop Believin', Faithfully, Dancing with Myself, Living on a prayer, Imagine, Hello Goodbye, Another one Bites the dust, so basically all of them. At least High School Musical made their own songs. Glee obviously cant be creative. They take the great songs of the past and turn them into garbage.
First that started with Journey. At first I was like, " Hey I guess they didnt do so bad with Dont Stop Believing." I was wrong. Then they took Faithfully and destroyed it. Faithfully being one of my favorite Journey songs, it hurt.
Dancing with Myself. Are you kidding me? Billy Idol is a beast. He is just a sexy beast. I love him. I love that song. He had awesome guitar parts and awesome vocals. So what does Glee do? SPOILER ALERT!!! Destroys it. They make nerdy kid in the wheel chair sing it with an acoustic accompaniment. A-W-F-U-L.
Living on a Prayer. One of Bon Jovi's Classics. I have 100 percent Expert score on that on guitar hero btw. Its a ROCK song. It doesn't belong in silly fru fru glee world where all they do is cover up their terrible singing voices with auto tune. Its like ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Bon freaking Jovi is an awesome dude. Glee takes it and rips it to pieces. Cant you see the difference?! Note: Glee's version of the guitar solo sucks! Its absolutely ridiculous.
Awesome.
Stupid.
Imagine. Omgosh. John Lennon. A legend. The Best of the fab four. How can glee live with itself?
Hello Goodbye. This is where Emily goes berserk. Really the Beatles? We have to pick on them too?! Haven't they been through enough? ( Jonas Brothers version of Hello Goodbye) Glee did 3 beatles songs: I wanna hold your hand which was exactly like the Across the Universe version. Good job glee on failing to be original again. and Black Bird. Black bird made me want to vomit. You cant EVER replace Paul McCartney's kick butt vocals.
Please. I beg you. Dont watch this show. Get this show off the air. Im glad teens are getting to know the classics, but this is not the way to show them. Through sucky young voices who could never handle the high note sung by Steven Tyler( Dream On by Glee. THEY MISSED THE HIGH NOTE!! So STUPID!), the awesome guitar of Slash, or the beautiful voice of John Lennon.
All I have to say is " Get back... Get back... Get back to where you once belonged..."
Song of the Week
Yep this is happening now.
Favorite Song of the week is " Somewhere Only We Know" By Keane
I discovered it in a movie trailer for "The Lake House" which is also a very good movie. Anyways, I really like this song. Alternative= Win!
If you're going to look up this song DO NOT listen to the Glee version because Glee ruins EVERY great song and turns it into rubbish. ( Yes rubbish. This is happening too.) If you would like a deeper post about how glee ruins everything, dont worry I gotcha covered ;) I will post it shortly.
ANYWAYS!!!
here you go :)

Last Day of School
School is officially OUT! This has been really great year. It has been filled with Swimming, lettering, studying, more swimming, babysitting, swimming, eating, SLEEPING,swimming. Did I mention Swimming? But most importantly FRIENDS! There are so many kids in my school that next year Im not going to see them a whole lot.

Have a great Summer!
The seniors last day of school was CRAZY. There were HUGE food fights, the fire alarm were pulled 5 times, slip n slides down the big hill in from of my school, water balloons, and silly string. Our school basically turned into a zoo with all those senior pranks. But I thought it was kinda funny.
Im going to miss all my friends so so so much. I almost cried yesterday giving one of my good friends a hug goodbye. I had just met her this year. We have always had fun in class and at lunch laughing till it hurt and trying to survive freshman year. She is such a good friend to me and I am really going to miss her. You can read her blog here http://airconfessions.blogspot.com/. She is a really great writer.
These pictures were taken on the second to last day of school. I love them.

Have a great Summer!
